Christmas 2010 at the Ox Yoke, Forksville, PA. The whole Smith family made it this year and we had a great time. It was cold and icy with just enough snow blowing around to make it feel like a real Christmas should.

Unexpected visitor
After dinner Saturday night, Tracy and I worked in the yard and just before sundown I noticed a hot air balloon really low and coming our way. He looked like he was going to land in the field behind our house so I got on my bike to chase him down. It was great, I could talk to them like they were close by even though they were 50 feet up. He said he was going to land soon but not in our fields. It was crazy because a whole bunch of cars were following them. There were senior couples with nothing better to do, young families with kids and they all pulled up our drive to watch them. Iris and Peachy went nuts with all of the people and Peachy especially liked barking at the balloon. They eventually landed on the top of the hill near the new playground. We didn't go up there but you could hear all of the kids yelling and dogs barking as they landed.

The merchant mariners in the creek
First pics from Florence
Carson left yesterday and arrived in Florence early this morning. She sent an email saying that the trip went well, all of her luggage made it there, she LOVES her apartment and her new roommates. She sent these pictures of the interior of her room and looking out on the street in front of her building.

Easter weekend

Easter weekend went by fast. Tracy, Peaches and I drove to Pittsburgh on Good Friday to see Carson for the day. We brought along a picnic lunch and enjoyed a gorgeous day with our baby and her friends.
We got back late Friday night and Lucas had driven home for the weekend with a classmate. They went camping Friday night and went fishing all day Saturday. We all had Easter dinner at the Smiths. Sure was nice to see our babies again.

Lucas docks in Baltimore

This week we had a treat. Lucas was on the Kings Pointer, the training ship for the academy. He was with about 40 other midshipmen as they took the ship to Baltimore and Philadelphia. We got to attend a dinner on board with a visit from the Secretary of Transportation. The best part was after dinner we got to hang with Lucas and some of his buddies at an Irish Pub at the Inner Harbor.
