Pittsburgh pics

Here are a few pics from last weekend in Pittsburgh. The top pic is the front door of the College of Design at Carnegie Mellon U. The second shot is inside the Fine Art Building. Very nice! 

Next is our fearless college visitors high atop the Mount Washington where we ate lunch. A beautiful view of the city right where one of the incline trains takes you up or down. The last shot is us out in front of the Warhol Museum.

We had an ice storm last night. The scarecrow that guards our compost bins didn't like it one bit.

Carson is back!

Carson returned last night from her trip to Amsterdam and the Hague, exhausted, but full of good stories. She loved Amsterdam. The Model United Nations was good she said but being trapped in a hotel with 1000 overachieving teenagers for 5 days is enough to drive anyone crazy. Fortunately everyone survived and there were no international incidents. Here are a few of her pictures. 

Lucas and Landon spend the weekend

Lucas had a long weekend this week so he brought his roommate, Landon home. Landon is from Tucson, AZ and had never been to PA before. Between the Smith's and us we made sure they had plenty to eat. Venison burgers on Saturday night and flank steak with the Smith's last night. The weather was very cold so we had to find some warm stuff for Landon to wear when they took Iris for a hike on Sunday.

On Saturday, Carson, Tracy, Iris, 

Peaches and I headed down to the nature preserve where Lucas established a trail for his Eagle Scout project. We walked the trail on a nice sunny day and on the drive home we hit a traffic jam caused by a wandering turkey. The water that you see in the shot of the overlook is the Susquehanna River. The shots are deceiving. It looks like a puddle but we were a few hundred feet about the river. 

All in all it was a wonderful way to spend a winter afternoon!
