Last hike of 2007

On Saturday, Carson, Tracy, Iris,
Peaches and I headed down to the nature preserve where Lucas established a trail for his Eagle Scout project. We walked the trail on a nice sunny day and on the drive home we hit a traffic jam caused by a wandering turkey. The water that you see in the shot of the overlook is the Susquehanna River. The shots are deceiving. It looks like a puddle but we were a few hundred feet about the river.

All in all it was a wonderful way to spend a winter afternoon!

Christmas Day 2007

We had a nice Christmas. It was sad though without Lucas who was with Hannah and family in California. Nanna and Grandpa had dinner at our house on Christmas Eve. On Christmas day we had dinner at their house. Ruben, Maema, and Barbie were there too. Chris got there in time to have some turkey and venison too. For desert, Ruben made creme brule for all of us. Very tasty!

As always, the doggies seem to have the most fun. Lots of walks and treats.

We had a nice surprise at the Smiths. After dinner, their neighbors, the Beilers stopped by. They are a young Amish couple with 13 kids! Younger than Tracy and I, they manage to feed all of them from their proceeds from a dairy farm just down the road from Don and Brenda's place. They were walking around delivering cookies with the youngest kids in wagons and strollers. Very cute. Unfortunately..... no pictures.

December pics

We have had a pretty quiet December. So
far the big storms have skated by to the
north of us. Just some ice and a dusting of snow.
Our tree this year came from the back yard. We had a hemlock that needed to be removed and Tracy had the idea of turning it into our tree. I didn't have the vision but Tracy and Carson did and they managed to do a great job decorating it.

Peaches has not inherited our love of snow. She must be coaxed and cajoled into going out into the stuff. Iris, on the other hand, loves the snow and will romp and hike for hours. The last picture shows Carson and her girlfriends, Christine, Wynne, Avery and Deanna at our dining room table. They had their   Christmas party at our house last weekend. Peaches had a wonderful time too!

thanksgiving pics

Here are some shots from this past weekend. Lucas was on his phone the minute he got off the train arranging time to meet up with his local friends. The girls got all dressed up for a party on Friday night. Peaches had to get dressed up too! On Turkey day Tracy and Carson were in charge of making the cheesy onions. I think the dogs had the best time. Lots of treats and plenty of couch action. Ruben, Mae, and Brenda are shown talking it up in the den. Wendel always manages to find a lap to lay on.

lucas's first trip home

Van Gogh and me

On our last field trip to New York I got to spend some time in the Museum of Modern Art. I met up with a buddy from Syracuse, and we had a chance to catch up and take in the masterpieces. Here I am with "Starry Night."
