Trip to Providence

We spent the last weekend in Providence, RI taking Carson up to see the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). It was a whirlwind trip but very enjoyable. Since she has been accepted there it looks like that is where she'll be this coming fall. She fell in love with the city and the school. Have to admit, Tracy and I did too. It is a delightful place even in a torrential downpour like we experienced all day on Saturday. The city has a wonderful mix of old and new architecture. The campus is across the canal from downtown and is spread out over 5 or 6 blocks. It is adjacent to Brown University which sits just up the hill. The schools have an agreement that allows both students to use each others campus facilities and take classes at both places. If you can get accepted by both schools, you can even get two degrees in 5 years. We all agree that RISD is a good fit for Carson. More academic then the average art college, highly innovative, in a city that is close to some major league cities, and the proximity to Brown will give her a feel for the traditional college experience as well. Lucas won't be too far away from her either.
